PARENTS ARE IMPORTANT

Are you there?

I have been blessed to come into a world raised by "goodly parents" who have a relationship with Jesus Christ and a knowledge of His restored gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I remember as a young boy how much I loved Sunday dinner time. My dad and I would go out and through a little baseball catch as he was on the grill making part of dinner. He taught me many things during that time almost every Sunday when the weather was good outside. I learned what it meant to love your neighbors, and those who are in need, I was taught to take responsibility for myself and do my best and work hard. He taught me love and I remember feeling of value to him. I will always cherish those memories.

Heavenly Father loves His children! He is always there for us. He's not like a cell phone plan that restricts us. We can call upon Him any time any day, even nights and weekends. We can talk as long as we want with no limited minutes. It's a free plan, it's the best plan. He wants to hear from us. We must ask Him "are you there?" to find the answer. I know God is there, and blesses us whenever we pray to Him. He blesses us with peace, and with comfort in trails. He blesses us with joy and gratitude for all He has given us. He blesses us with direction and protection. He is there and always will be as a perfect parent would be.

Parents ask yourself...Am I there? Do I connect with my loved ones in my family? Do I spend time with them and show them love? Every child needs this and I know life gets busy, but if we truly want an eternal family we must work for it.

Here is an apostle teaching that effective parenting means taking the time to listen and to understand the hearts of our children.

COME WHAT MAY AND LOVE IT!

THE WAY WE REACT TO ADVERSITY IS WHAT MATTERS

So I've been thinking about how to handle adversity. In 2010, we live in "perilous times", ad are far too often the negative result of adversity.

Think to yourself if you were driving your car and someone cuts you off, how would you react? It happened to me just today as I was coming to write this post. I know some of my family blood in me wanted to scream, yell, and insult God and all of my family and relatives back to Adam because of the language I would be using. I did not respond that way because I was taught the teachings found in The Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This is a video of an apostle who has great council for you and me about how to find happiness, especially when adversity comes upon us.
