FOCUS, WITH AN EYE SINGLE TO GOD

BE PATIENT, IT'S WORTH THE WAIT

In everyday life we have so many choices. There are endless possibilites in front of us. I relate this to shopping. When I walk into a department store I see so many options wheither it be clothing, or accesories, or items for a home. Then I think to myself how ther are so many other deaprtment stores with differnt items in them also. It can get overwhelming at times. I ask myself what should I choose?

PATIENCE IN ALL THINGS

I have learned for myself from my own experienes that if we wait a little longer we might receieve more than we would have from just gave in and satisfied our demands. Delayed gratification is often the Lord's way. The Lords opinon is, we must "becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father" (Mosiah 3:19).

Patience is not easy. Especially when you really want it.

Below is a video showing the importance of being patient and the blessings that come. It's great!

LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF THE SPIRIT

THE VOICE OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS WHAT MATTERS MOST

I have pondered in recent times why the world is so busy, so noisy and why we operate at such a fast face of speed. As I have studied the scriptures I have found an answer to understand why this is this way today. "Satan seeketh to turn their hearts away from the truth, that they become blinded and understand not the things which are prepared for them" (D&C 78:10). "The evil one who seeketh to destroy the souls of men" is the reason why we are caught up in the things of the world. He is the one who hates us more than we can comprehend and wants us to be miserable like he is and will always be. We are bombarded by multitudes of voices telling us how to live, how to gratify our passions, how to have it all.

THE VOICE OF GOD, WHICH IS THE SPIRIT

I have found for myself a simple solution for knowing which voice we should all follow. The voice of the Spirit. This requires patience while the world says 'now!" This solution requires a calm peaceful soul, willing to submit to the God Heaven for aid and guideance. Above all we must LISTEN to that voice which is mentioned to be "a still voice of perfect mildness, as if it had been a whisper, and it did pierce even to the very soul" (Helaman 5:30). As we listen and follow the Spirit we will give us "peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come" (D&C 59:23).

In a world full of noise and many voices, President James E. Faust invites us to listen to and follow the voice of the Spirit, which is calm and quiet and leads to eternal life.

PARENTS ARE IMPORTANT

Are you there?

I have been blessed to come into a world raised by "goodly parents" who have a relationship with Jesus Christ and a knowledge of His restored gospel through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I remember as a young boy how much I loved Sunday dinner time. My dad and I would go out and through a little baseball catch as he was on the grill making part of dinner. He taught me many things during that time almost every Sunday when the weather was good outside. I learned what it meant to love your neighbors, and those who are in need, I was taught to take responsibility for myself and do my best and work hard. He taught me love and I remember feeling of value to him. I will always cherish those memories.

Heavenly Father loves His children! He is always there for us. He's not like a cell phone plan that restricts us. We can call upon Him any time any day, even nights and weekends. We can talk as long as we want with no limited minutes. It's a free plan, it's the best plan. He wants to hear from us. We must ask Him "are you there?" to find the answer. I know God is there, and blesses us whenever we pray to Him. He blesses us with peace, and with comfort in trails. He blesses us with joy and gratitude for all He has given us. He blesses us with direction and protection. He is there and always will be as a perfect parent would be.

Parents ask yourself...Am I there? Do I connect with my loved ones in my family? Do I spend time with them and show them love? Every child needs this and I know life gets busy, but if we truly want an eternal family we must work for it.

Here is an apostle teaching that effective parenting means taking the time to listen and to understand the hearts of our children.
